Which is better, San Diego State University or CSU Long Beach?

I'm hoping to transfer next year and I'm having a hard time deciding between SDSU & CSULB. I live in San Diego and really don't particularly care for a "party school". I just want to get in and get out. I have a friend up in Long Beach so I would probably stay a few weeks until I found a place.. I'm used to night classes ( I work full time but would obviously get a job in LB); how are night classes at CSULB? SDSU? How about the Linguistics department at both schools? Other infos are welcome.
